Mark Wahlberg recently surprised locals at the Quincy Stop & Shop grocery store, where the actor had his first job.

Wahlberg greeted the staff, many of whom he worked with in 1998, and posed for photos with fans after he had bagged some groceries.

He even asked for his old job back.

Wahlberg goes back to his roots

Wahlberg posted a video to his Instagram account showing his trip to the grocery store, where he vied to get his old job back.

The camera, focused on Wahlberg outside in the parking lot wearing a pink and black camo hoodie, a white tee shirt, and black jeans, panned across the parking lot and to the Stop & Shop in the background.

“Right here, this is where the whole hustle all started,” Wahlberg said in the video.

In 1998 I was working at the Stop & Shop here on Newport Avenue in Quincy,” the actor continued. “But it was over there, they moved the store.

“I was bagging groceries. $3.65 an hour.”

“While I was up the street getting my driver’s ed. The same day I turned 17, I got my driver’s license, I bought my Pontiac [...] for $200.

Then the actor states he is going to “go in there and ask Jeff” for his old job back, before listing all the products and software he would bring in to improve the Stop & Shop.

Wahlberg bags groceries

After entering the store, Wahlberg approaches the end of the check-out lane, grabs a paper bag, and starts bagging groceries.

Hi, I’m bagging groceries. I’m telling Jeff to give me my job back,” Wahlberg explained to the confused clerk.

He then proceeds to bag several grocery items.

“These seem pretty heavy,” he said, holding up a bag of oranges and asking the customer if she wants a single or double bag.
