‘Marty Supreme’ sets its HBO Max premiere date after missing out at the 2026 Oscars
The film starring Timothée Chalamet will be available for streaming at the end of next month.

It was considered one of the heavy favorites heading into the 2026 Oscars, but luck wasn’t on its side. Still, there’s no denying Marty Supreme stands as one of last year’s best films. And now it finally has a streaming date on HBO Max: Friday April 24.
Timothée Chalamet — fresh off the success of Dune — stars as a young man determined to earn respect in a sport nobody takes seriously: competitive ping‑pong. Inspired by the real‑life legend he portrays, the film follows Marty’s spiral into obsession, high‑stakes gambling, and ultimately, redemption.
What critics are saying
In MeriStation’s review of Marty Supreme, the outlet wrote:
“Just a year ago, while accepting his SAG Award, Timothée Chalamet said he was ‘chasing greatness.’ Today, we can say he’s found it. You know a performance is historic when audiences leave the theater wanting to emulate a deeply flawed character. He’s DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort, Christian Bale’s Patrick Bateman. More physical and visceral than expected, he even makes that 23‑year age‑gap romance with Gwyneth Paltrow believable. He carries half the movie on his shoulders — the pure embodiment of arrogance and selfishness, evolving toward maturity only after humiliation. It’s pure cinema. Pathos.”
