Marvel suffers ‘Blade’ delay due to writers’ strike

Marvel has frozen the pre-production of ‘Blade’, starring Mahershala Ali, until the writers’ strike ends.

The Writers Guild of America went on strike on May 1 for the first time since 2007/2008, after raising issues with compensation in the age of streaming and parameters surrounding the use of AI in the contemporary film industry.

The impact of the writers strike already

The impact of this new writers’ strike is already beginning to be felt on current Hollywood productions.

Projects such as the Amazon series ‘The Lord of the Rings’, which continues its Season 2, but without showrunners, and several others have been affected.

Now, Marvel is affected by this protest movement since the studio has frozen the pre-production of the new film.

‘Blade’, which is directed by Yann Demange, was supposed to start shooting in June in Atlanta.

Big production houses beginning to be affected by writers strike

Marvel isn’t the first big studio to have its production paused due to the writers’ strike.

However, they do not seem to be giving up. If ‘Blade’ sees its production postponed, ‘Captain America: New World Order’ and ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ are still shooting in Atlanta, while the ‘Wonder Man’ series is also in production in Los Angeles.

‘Deadpool 3′, meanwhile, is set to begin filming in April in London.

Marvel is particularly known for reworking its scripts on the set of its films.
