Marvel Studios has added yet another notable actor to their ever-expanding franchise. Academy Award nominee Steven Yeun will reportedly be joining Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’.

Yeun’s breakout role was back in 2010, when he joined the cast of ‘The Walking Dead’ as the fan-favorite character, Glenn Rhee. Since then, Yeun has appeared in many acclaimed films, including his performance as Ricky “Jupe” Park in Jordan Peele’s 2022 film ‘Nope’.

The accredited actor’s involvement has fans eager to tune in upon the film’s release.

Who will Steven Yeun play in ‘Thunderbolts’?

Although Yeun’s role hasn’t been confirmed by the actor and Marvel Studios, sources revealed to Deadline that Yeun is set to play a significant character within the movie. His role could potentially lead to more involvement in future MCU films.

Although Yeun’s character is still undisclosed, many fans speculate that he will be playing Sentry. The character, who also carries within him the supervillain known as the Void, made his first appearance in September 2000.

“My boy is finally getting the roles he deserves. He’s an excellent choice for Sentry,” one fan wrote on Twitter, in response to the announcement that Yeun will be joining the MCU.

Marvel’s new film ‘Thunderbolts’ gives rise to the anti-hero

Recently announced at Disney’s D23 Expo event, the cast lineup revealed many returning actors. The film will provide certain anti-hero characters with more depth and backstory within the MCU.

The current cast list for the film includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

At Disney’s D23 event, current Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige commented on the questionable nature of many of the characters featured in this current cast list.

“It tells you a lot about the team when beloved Winter Soldier is the most stable among them,” the long-time Marvel Studios director joked.

Marvel Studios ‘Thunderbolts’ will hit theaters next summer on July 26, 2024.
