Megyn Kelly appeared to learn live on air that Don Lemon had been fired from his hosting duties at CNN while recording her podcast, ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’, on Monday.

While not always his biggest fan, Kelly went on to back Lemon for being upset about the way he was treated by CNN after years of service, and being told he was fired indirectly through his agent.

That Lemon was let go didn’t come as a shock to everyone. In February, he raised eyebrows after making sexist comments about former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, for which he later apologized.

Kelly’s reaction to Lemon’s exit

“No, no, he’s, he’s not wrong,” Kelly said during the April 24 episode of ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’. “I mean, everybody knows I’m not exactly Don Lemon’s fan, but he’s not wrong … if that’s true.”

The host noted that if Lemon “was just told by his agent he was fired and the network didn’t have the balls to tell him man to man. I mean, that’s just classless.

“He’s got a right to complain about that.”

Lemon broke the news via Twitter

“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN,” claimed Lemon claimed. “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly.

“At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”

Although Lemon claimed that CNN didn’t inform him of his exit directly, the network disputed those claims.

“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate,” read a tweet from CNN’s communications social media account.

“He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”
