Michael B. Jordan jokes about his ‘first public breakup’

Michael B. Jordan made his ‘Saturday Night Live’ debut and mentioned his split from Lori Harvey.

While hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ this week, Michael B. Jordan referenced his recent breakup for the first time ever.

In good spirits, the star took time during his monologue to crack jokes about going through his “very first public breakup” and learning a “new language.”

“Most people after a breakup are like, ‘I’m going to get in better shape.’ But I was already in Creed shape!” he said, referencing the upcoming boxing film he directed and stars in. “So I had to be like, ‘All right, I guess I’ll learn a new language.’ Anyway, estoy en Raya.”

Raya is a private membership-based dating and social networking app. Often called “the secret dating app for famous people,” the app requires a referral from a current user to join. Celebrities like Demi Lovato, Niall Horan, and Channing Tatum have been reported to use the app.

Although the actor never mentioned his ex by name, it’s widely known that he was referring to model Lori Harvey, who he dated for almost two years.

The couple first made their relationship official in January 2021 after being spotted together in late 2020. In June of 2022, Harvey’s father, Steve Harvey, announced on ‘The Steve Harvey Morning Show’ that the couple had recently split.

The actor has kept a relatively low profile since the split, focusing more on his upcoming movie ‘Creed: III,’ which comes out on March 3, 2023. Harvey was recently spotted with British actor Damson Idris, and rumors of the suspected relationship have been circulating since late December.

SNL cast joked with Jordan

Later in his monologue, various SNL cast members jokingly attempted to pursue the actor.

“Hey! I didn’t even know you were out here,” said Ego Nwodim, who wore a wedding dress and short veil.

When Jordan pointed out her outfit choice, she quickly replied: “I was just taking a walk around the studio, and I threw this on. Oh, my gosh, is this a wedding dress?”

Throughout the episode, Jordan took part in numerous sketches, including one where he portrayed Jake from State Farm Insurance and a Southwest Airline agent. In another skit, Jordan pretended to record the grunts and sound effects needed for fighter video games.

As for musical guest Lil Baby, he performed ‘California Breeze’ and ‘Forever’, both songs from his latest LP ‘It’s Only Me’, which was released in October.
