The ‘Fast and the Furious’ star shows she can do more than just run with the bad boys and fast cars. In ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ Rodriguez is at the center of the action, with some of the best action sequences in the film.

Michelle Rodriguez tells fans she had to bulk up for the movie, gaining over 15 lbs of muscle and growing her armpit hair to make her character, Holga Kilgore, a more authentic barbarian.

Bringing Holga the Barbarian to life

In an interview with SFX magazine, she shares her experience in preparing for the role. “I grew out all my armpit hair, so that’s real – it’s not glued on. So I really felt the part, plus I gained a good 15 pounds of muscle. I’m still having a hard time losing that muscle. I’ve had to add a new size to my wardrobe.” says the star.

In an interview, she tells Den of Geek that she’s made a whole career on Holga’s temper tantrums, as she is a woman of few words and speaks very matter-of-factly. She turns on the battle rage more than a few times in the film.

As a Dungeon and Dragons fan herself, Michelle Rodriguez is highly impressed and excited to be in the film, bringing her teenage fantasies to life.

She tells fans, “It’s really wonderful that writers like Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who directed this movie, put in hundreds and hundreds of hours in the gameplay. It’s like lifting weights for creativity. Playing that game makes you a more creative person.

Costars, plot and premiere date

The cast includes Rodriguez playing Holga Kilgore, Chris Pine as Edgin Darvis, award-winning actor Hugh Grant as Forge Fitzwilliam, Regé-Jean Page as Xenk Yendar, Sophia Lillis as Doric, and Justice Smith as Simon Aumar.

Holga and Edgin are on the same side, raising his daughter Kira after her mother is tragically killed after a confrontation with the Red Wizard.

After a heist goes awry, the duo ends up in prison, where they plot their escape to be reunited with Kira. With Chris Pine’s cheeky one-liners and Holga’s temper tantrums, the pair creates a hilarious and adventure-packed film to watch.

‘Honor Among Thieves’ has already premiered at SXSW on March 10th with glowing reviews and hits theaters this Thursday, March 30th.
