Netflix recently released the new trailer for the show ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’, set to be released on the streaming platform on May 4. This spinoff is a prequel of the well-loved Regency-era show Bridgerton, detailing the unlikely love story of a younger Queen Charlotte and King George.

The Shondaland prequel centers on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence in British high society. It highlights the societal shift that ensued after young Charlotte marries King George and becomes queen.

In the show, young Charlotte is played by India Amarteifio. ‘Bridgerton’ actress Golda Rosheuvel will be reappearing as Queen Charlotte later in life, and her co-stars Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) will also be reprising their roles for the spin-off.

Young Queen Charlotte begins by expressing confusion as to why she must marry the King - only for her later plan of escape to be foiled by the King himself. As the pair gets to know one another, they exchange moments of passion and moments of strife, with fans left to wonder how they overcome societal obstacles.

Fans are already marking their calendars for the spinoff’s release on May 4. Many are taking to social media to express their excitement and anticipation after Netflix dropped the official trailer earlier today.

“The future Queen is very obviously a force to be reckoned with,” one Twitter user writes.

Another expressed excitement for a glimpse into young Lady Danbury’s life (played by Arsema Thomas).

In a YouTube comment under the official Netflix trailer, one fan gushed over the franchise.

“Bridgerton is one of those binge-able shows with many such doses. This lavish period drama inspires teas and duvets and speaking with outrageously posh syntaxes. I’m excited for this Spinoff.”

“Although we know the fate of the king. I’m hoping they had many years of happiness before his aliment set in. This trailer gave me ALL the feels,” another YouTube commenter wrote.
