New ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ clip shows the villainous Anthea

A new clip of ‘Shazam 2′ features Rachel Zegler meeting Jack Dylan Grazer’s character.

Update:
A new clip of ‘Shazam 2′ features Rachel Zegler meeting Jack Dylan Grazer’s character.

With ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ set to release next month, a new clip of the film has emerged. It features Rachel Zegler’s character, Anthea, and Jack Dylan Grazer’s, Freddy Freeman.

The 30-second clip shows that Anthea is the new girl at Freddy’s school. The two accidentally bump into each other, presumably on their way to class, and Freddy seems to fall in love with her immediately.

The scene teases an important relationship between Anthea and Freddy.

Who is Rachel Zegler?

Zegler rose to prominence after making her acting debut as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’ (2021). She was praised for adding complexity and nuance to the character.

The role earned Zegler several awards and nominations including the Golden Globe for Best Actress - Musical or Comedy.

In addition to ‘Shazam 2′, she is set to appear as Lucy Gray Baird in ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ and as Snow White in Disney’s live-action adaptation of ‘Snow White’.

‘Fury of the Gods’ is the sequel to ‘Shazam!’

Picking up where the first film left off, the sequel follows Billy Baston (Asher Angel) and his foster siblings and they learn to balance their regular lives with their superhero personas.

Things, however, turn into chaos when a vengeful trio come to steal the power of Shazam.

Zegler’s role in ‘Shazam 2′ is that of Anthea, the youngest daughter of the god Atlas, who will be one of the film’s villains alongside Atlas’ other two daughters, Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu).

The sisters are not from the comics, but are instead DCEU original characters.

Zegler told Variety: “There’s three goddesses. I am the youngest of three goddesses, there’s three sisters. We come and shake up the Shazamily a bit. It’s such a fun movie… I’m very excited to see the finished product.”

‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ is set to be released in theaters on March 17. Along with Zegler and Grazer, the film also stars Zachary Levi, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, Lucy Lui, Djimon Hounsou and Helen Mirren.
