Oscar-winning actor Alan Arkin dies at 89

Actor Alan Arkin, who won an Oscar for best supporting actor, has died at his home in California, his family announced through a statement.

Popular and award-winning actor Alan Arkin has died at the age of 89 at his home in Carlsbad, California, as confirmed by his family. His three sons Adam, Matthew and Anthony announced his passing in a statement released to media outlets.

“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed,” according to the statement.

Alan Arkin: Award-winning actor

Arkin received an Oscar award for best supporting actor for his performance as a grumpy grandfather in the 2006 film “Little Miss Sunshine”. He also bagged a Tony Award for his Broadway debut performance in the 1963 play “Enter Laughing”.

The actor most recently entertained audiences in the Netflix series The Kominsky Method, where he starred as the best friend of Michael Douglas.
