Pearl Jam announces new 2023 U.S. Tour, will use ‘all-in’ ticket pricing

Pearl Jam has just announced an upcoming U.S. tour for 2023, hitting five cities with two shows each, beginning on August 31 in St. Paul, Minnesota, before making their way to Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Austin.

The band has famously had a difficult relationship with Ticketmaster that began in 1994 for unfairly adding exorbitant fees after capping ticket prices at $18 during their 1993 ‘Vs Tour’.

In order to avoid these fees, which the band felt was unfair to fans, they ended up performing at venues that Ticketmaster had no deals with, which were often not up to pair with the bigger arena’s that worked with Ticketmaster.

Pearl Jam using ‘all-in’ pricing and Verified Fan

Now Pearl Jam is attempting to work with Ticketmaster by giving fans ‘all-in’ ticket pricing, meaning that fees are already included in the ticket price, with no surprises at checkout.

The band will also be making use of Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan service, designed to help stop scalpers from getting their hands on tickets and reselling them at high prices.

“Pearl Jam has decided to make tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs,” the band explained in a press release.

“Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

The band’s efforts on keeping ticket prices fair for fans echo Robert Smith’s recent attempts to give fans refunds on fees added to tickets for the upcoming ‘Songs from a Lost World Tour’ by The Cure, where 7,000 scalped tickets were canceled.

When do tickets for Pearl Jam’s 2023 U.S. Tour go on sale?

Members of Pearl Jam fan club Ten Club will have already been given presale links to buy tickets for the upcoming shows.

Fans can also register for Verified Fan on Ticketmaster for a chance to receive a special access code for a second presale.

Registration for Verified Fan is open until Tuesday, April 25th at 5 p.m. PT.
