Pedro Pascal forgot he landed ‘The Last of Us’ role

Pascal says he doesn’t remember the call informing him that he got the job.

Update:
Pascal says he doesn’t remember the call informing him that he got the job.

HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ continues to make waves given its popularity, but Pedro Pascal has revealed that he initially forgot he had even landed a role in the series.

Pascal is gearing up for his first hosting gig on ‘Saturday Night Live’ this weekend, and in preparation, he made an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’.

Part of the discussion was focused on Pascal’s work as Joel on ‘The Last of Us’. Pascal shared an anecdote on how he landed the role, which involved a late-night Zoom call with series creator Craig Mazin and video game creator Neil Druckmann.

The problem was Pascal, who was in London at the time, was asked to stay up late as the others were calling from Los Angeles.

“That was a really strange circumstance. I was actually in London and everyone else was in Los Angeles,” Pascal told Fallon. “I got sent these scripts and I was told that ‘Craig Mazin wants you to read these scripts. And if you like them, he’d like to talk to you.’

“At that point, it’s really late, and I’ve got to get up in the morning. I take an Ambien to go to sleep, because they’ve got my adrenaline going and my hopes up.”

Pascal forgot he was offered the role

Pascal explained that after he took the Ambien, he received a call saying he had been offered the role.

The problem was that he didn’t remember right away.

“I get a call, and I get told that I got the job after I took the Ambien,” he said with a laugh.

“I was excited, I guess, but I didn’t remember. I woke up in the morning, and the first thing that occurred to me was like, ‘Oh man, I really want that job’.”

‘I’m going to wait by the phone all day long this hasn’t happened in a while, you know. I’m going to be longing. And I’m going to think about it all day long,’ he said, not even realizing he was offered the job last night.

‘Yeah, and it’s like, “Oh, congratulations. So happy for you,” when I looked at my phone I was like, “Oh yeah I got the job!” he joked.
