Pedro Pascal isn’t alone on ‘Saturday Night Live’ set

A new promo has been released as Pascal gears up for his upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live.

A new promo has been released as Pascal gears up for his upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Pedro Pascal is trading in his trek across America with Bella Ramsey in ‘The Last of Us’ for ‘Saturday Night Live’ this week, but things aren’t going smoothly according to a newly released promo.

The 47-year-old will host the show for the first time on February 4, joined by musical guest Coldplay, and the video begins with him taking in the sight of the legendary Studio 8H.

“Little Pedro Pascal from Santiago, Chile hosting Saturday Night Live!,” Pascal says while channeling his ‘Last of Us’ character, Joel. “Wild.”

Immediately after, he hears a strange noise and grabs a hammer as he begins to look around. That’s when he finds a clicker - a dreaded mushroom-infected zombie from ‘The Last of Us’.

Just as Pascal’s survival instincts kick in and he prepares to hit the clicker with the hammer, he’s stopped by SNL cast member Sarah Sherman and Molly Kearney.

“What are you doing, you psycho?” Sherman screams. “That’s our new cast member!

The clicker’s name is Matt, with Sherman offering Pascal some advice ahead of his hosting gig: “I know it’s your first time hosting, but a little advice: don’t hit the cast members with a hammer, you maniac.”

There were clearly no hard feelings between Pascal and Matt, as SNL released a video of them dancing together on their TikTok account.

‘The Last of Us’ has been a success

HBO’s latest hit ‘The Last of Us’ takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed.

Pascal’s character, Joel, is hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl named Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) out of an oppressive quarantine zone. The small job becomes much bigger, as the two must travel across the US and work together to survive.

The series has proven to be a hit with HBO already announcing it has been renewed for a second season.

It’s the latest successful project for Pascal, who has featured in some of the biggest shows TV has to offer in recent years. After playing Oberyn Martell in ‘Game of Thrones’, he’s led both ‘Narcos’ and ‘The Mandalorian’.

The Disney+ series will return for its third season on March 1, and the trailer alone has already broken records thanks to an impressive 83.5 million views in its first 24 hours after premiering on January 16 during the NFL Wild Card game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys.

How to watch Pascal’s SNL appearance

You can watch Pascal make his ‘Saturday Night Live’ hosting debut on Saturday, February 4 at 11:30 p.m./8:30 p.m. PT on NBC. It will also be live-streamed simultaneously on Peacock.

Pascal takes over hosting duties from ‘Creed III’ star Michael B. Jordan, as the show wraps up a string of three straight first-time hosts that began with Aubrey Plaza.
