Pink reveals awkward encounter with Madonna
The singer revealed why Madonna doesn’t like her following an awkward encounter almost 20 years ago.
Pink recently opened up about her awkward experience meeting her childhood idol Madonna on SiriusXM’s ‘The Howard Stern Show’.
The artist revealed that the ‘Material Girl’ herself doesn’t like Pink since their first encounter almost 20 years ago.
“Madonna doesn’t like me. Some people just don’t like me,” the singer said on Wednesday’s episode. “I’m a polarizing individual.”
The awkward fan moment
Pink recalled when both she and Madonna were invited as guests on ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ in 2003.
In the interview, Pink was starstruck at meeting her idol, the first time the two had ever met. While it would have been a positive experience for the artist, she recalls the encounter went differently than expected.
“I think she tried to kind of play me on Regis and Kelly, and I’m not the one. So it didn’t work out,” Pink told Stern.
“I f—--- love Madonna. I love her no matter what, I still love her, she was just an inspiration to me,” she continued.
“But it sort of got twisted around that I was fangirling and dying to meet Madonna when in actuality she invited me into her dressing room.”
“So I just said a joke when Regis brought me out, ‘how does it feel to meet Madonna, I heard you’re just falling over yourself backstage, how does it feel?’ [and I said] ‘I thought she wanted to meet me’. It didn’t work out for us.”
Stern then joked that Madonna was backstage ready to fight Pink.
Pink asked to be part of the infamous 2003 VMA kiss
Pink also recently revealed that she was invited by the Queen of Pop herself to participate in the now-infamous kiss between Madonna, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera.
“I think we all were [invited],” she told KTU 103.5. “I think Madonna wanted to kiss all of us. I was in Costa Rica at the time, having all kinds of fun with my boyfriend Carey Hart. Gwen Stefani was also invited, I remember. It was a bunch of us.”
Jennifer Lopez also recently claimed that she was also asked to join in the performance, but but had to decline because of scheduling conflicts.
