The coronation of King Charles III has Prince William looking to the future, especially since he’s next in line to the throne.

The festivities on May 6 housed around 2000 guests with the entire ceremony lasting about two hours that was filled with royal traditions.

What changes will William make?

A source claims that Prince William will skip an “homage to the people”. This tradition invites people from inside and outside the Abbey to pay respect to King Charles and other members of the royal family, but sparked controversy for this reason.

Another source reported that the Prince of Wales “is really thinking, how do we make this coronation feel more relevant in the future? He is mindful of the fact that in 20 years’ time, or whenever his time comes, how can the coronation be modern but also unifying to the nation and the Commonwealth?”

“I think his coronation will look and feel quite different.”

According to people close to Prince William, he has big plans on modernizing the monarchy in hopes of increasing its relevance for the people of today.

“The Prince and Princess are keen to do things in their own way,” a spokesperson told People magazine.

William and Kate have already begun to exercise these changes in their royal duties. For example, William was not crowned the Prince of Wales at his father’s coronation, like Charles who was given the title via a ceremony by his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

Kate Middleton on royal life

Kate Middleton joined athletes for Mental Health Awareness Week through The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. Holmes shared details on what Kate had to say about her role as a royal.

“She said she ‘had to learn and she’s still learning every day,’” Holmes said. “It’s a struggle to know you can be accepted and fit in.”
