Rihanna’s makeup artist, Priscilla Ono, revealed on Thursday that she has finally narrowed down the look the ‘Diamonds’ singer is going for at the big event.

Ono, the Global Makeup Artist for Fenty Beauty, has been Rihanna’s stylist for almost 20 years, and had the opportunity to sit in on Rihanna’s many rehearsals in preparation for the Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, February 12.

In an interview with Page Six Style, Ono revealed what helped her perfect Rihanna’s look for the Super Bowl. Given the singer wanted her look to reflect the music and the performance, she welcomed Ono to come to rehearsal for inspiration.

“I’ve actually been going to rehearsals and watching everything, so everything kind of inspires me,” she said.

Rihanna’s Super Bowl look

Ono told fans that she spent weeks making vision boards and color charts to narrow down the look, but she finally has it down.

It’s going to be an iconic look,” the makeup artist said. “I want it to be super timeless.”

The makeup artist said it was great to put time into something she really cares about, and that seeing her work in action is a great reward.

“Seeing everything come to life is so cool,” Ono shared. “I think when you take your time and really care about something, it’s going to come out really good.”

“I’m really proud of Rihanna and I can’t wait for her to go out there and show everybody what she got!”

The halftime show

To prepare for the show, which will entail doing makeup for all of Rihanna’s background vocalists and dancers, Ono has hired 25 makeup artists to assist her in executing her big vision for Rihanna’s legendary halftime show look.

“When it comes to creating a look, I’m not only responsible for Rihanna’s makeup but also for the dancers and background vocalists,” Ono said. “On the day of, I’m only doing Rihanna’s makeup and I want her to look and feel her best. So I have a team of 25 makeup artists who are going to execute the look that I set for all the dancers.”

Though she will be managing a team of so many people, Ono remains focused.

“I’ve been working with them for a long time, so they kind of know my deal,” she said. “It’s always, ‘Give 100 percent, do your best and hustle, hustle, hustle.’”

Getting real with Rihanna

When asked about what it’s like to spend so much time with Rihanna over the years, Ono replied that she sees her as a friend more than anything else.

“When she’s in my makeup chair she’s not like the Rihanna that I see on TV,” she said. “She’s like a girlfriend, like a homie. I don’t feel all this pressure when I’m with her.

“She’s very down to earth and cool. We just talk about normal things and we have the TV and music on. It’s almost like we’re hanging out and I love that. It’s awesome.”
