Rosalía accepts 2023 Grammy Award from her bed

Rosalía made quite the statement while accepting her Grammy Award for Best Alternative Latino Album by wearing a yellow knitted pajama top while in bed.

Though the 29-year-old singer made a splash at the 2020 Grammy Awards by winning an award in the same category and performing her hit, ‘Juro Que’, she wasn’t in attendance for the 2023 ceremony.

After not making an appearance at the pre-Grammy party, it was rumored that Rosalía wouldn’t be able to make it to the show. Those rumors proved to be true, as she opted for a quiet night at home instead.

Rosalía keeps things low key

Seconds after the announcement that Rosalía won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Latino Album, for her album ‘Motomami’, the star posted a photo of herself lounging against her pillows.

Rosalía smiled into the camera and gave the ‘rock ‘n roll’ sign with her right hand.

“MOTOMAMI GRAMMY WINNERR WHATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ??”, the caption reads.

Another photo from the post shows Rosalía giving an ecstatic scream, presumably taken upon hearing that she had won the Grammy Award, and a sketch of a gramophone.

Rosalia isn’t the only star not to attend a ceremony

The Latina star isn’t the first singer not to attend an awards show.

Drake declined his Grammy nominations altogether, claiming that he had a “long and at times contentious relationship with the Grammys.”

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards, and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after,” the rapper said.

Bob Dylan famously declined to accept his Nobel Peace Prize in person, saying that he was simply busy with other things, though he was “truly beyond words”.

The “Like a Rolling Stone’ singer allegedly thought his chances of winning the award were as likely as “standing on the moon”. It took more than three months for Dylan to accept the award.

“It’s hard to believe,” he said when he finally did accept. “Amazing, incredible. Whoever dreams about something like that?”

Dolly Parton reportedly twice declined the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

“I don’t work for those awards,” the 77-year-old said. “It’d be nice, but I’m not sure that I even deserve it. But it’s a nice compliment for people to think I might deserve it.”

David Bowie also twice turned down a prestigious award from Queen Elizabeth II.

“I would never have any intention of accepting anything like that,” the ‘Ziggy Stardust’ singer said. “I seriously don’t know what it’s for. It’s not what I spent my life working for [...] it’s just not for me.”
