Rosalia and Rauw Alejandro shock fans with break-up news after two years
The two stars have reportedly broken off their engagement after a two-year relationship that seemed very close, personally and professionally
One of the most celebrated artist couples in the Latin music industry has ended their relationship, according to sources. Rosalía, the 30-year-old from Barcelona, and Rauw Alejandro from Puerto Rico have called off their engagement after being together for two years and amid wedding preparations. Speculations about a possible breakup started circulating on social media in recent weeks, especially after the Catalan singer posted a picture of herself crying on her Instagram account.
The American media outlet ‘People’ confirmed the news on Tuesday, but the artists have not made official statements.
Sources close to the now-former couple have revealed that “despite the love and respect the singers have for each other, they mutually agreed to end their engagement.” Beyond their romantic bond, music has been another strong connection between them. Earlier this year, in late March, the couple released their first collaboration, an EP titled ‘RR,’ featuring three songs they sang together: ‘Beso,’ ‘Vampiros,’ and ‘Promesa,’ which have garnered over 400 million streams on Spotify alone.
A notable detail that caught the attention of the singer’s followers further fueling breakup rumors, was the farewell to the Motomami era. In a post, the Catalan artist thanked her family and team for accompanying her during these intense years while she was immersed in promoting her album. However, there was no mention or photos of Rauw Alejandro, who had been by her side all this time.
Rauw Alejandro, Rosalia shock the world
This unexpected news has surprised many of the couple’s fans, especially after witnessing their closeness and affectionate moments just a few months ago.
Alejandro and Rosalia’s love story dates back to the end of 2020 when rumors of a possible relationship between them began to surface, especially when Rosalía shared several images of herself riding a motorcycle with the Puerto Rican artist on her social media. After numerous speculations and headlines, which suggested they might be one of the industry’s most popular couples, they confirmed their relationship in September 2021, on the Catalan singer’s 28th birthday.
