Russell Crowe, actor, on the epic film that is once again a global hit on Netflix: “This is an interesting turn of events”

The 2014 film starring Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins became a worldwide box office success.

Update:

Russell Crowe has been one of Hollywood’s most commanding actors for decades. The Oscar winner is forever linked to films like Gladiator, Master and Commander, A Beautiful Mind, and Nuremberg, among many others. But there’s one movie of his that keeps resurfacing on streaming platforms—often surprising viewers with its staying power.

That film is Noah, Darren Aronofsky’s ambitious biblical epic retelling the story of Noah’s Ark. The movie was a global box‑office hit, earning $359 million worldwide, and this February it climbed back into Netflix’s Top 10 most‑watched films. It’s not the first time the movie has surged in popularity, either—Crowe himself pointed it out on social media back in 2024 when it unexpectedly reentered the charts.

A streaming favorite that keeps coming back

Noah boasts an impressive cast. Alongside Crowe, the film features Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins, among others. For whatever reason—its scale, its emotional pull, or its dramatic interpretation of a well‑known story—the movie has proven to be a reliable hit on streaming platforms, consistently drawing in new viewers.

In the US, Noah is currently available with a subscription on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.

Here’s the official synopsis for Noah: “In a world devastated by human sin, Noah—a peaceful man who simply wants to live quietly with his family—receives a divine mission: build an Ark to save life on Earth from an impending flood. Each night he’s haunted by the same nightmare, witnessing the catastrophe that’s coming… followed by the rebirth of life once the waters recede.”
