Ryan Reynolds invests in Canadian fintech company Nuvei
The Canadian-born actor is a keen investor as a side hustle to his Hollywood career.
Canadian fintech company, Nuvei Corporation, has announced that their latest investor is Hollywood actor and producer and Canadian entrepreneur, Ryan Reynolds.
Reynolds has a reputation in the business world for his successful investments and high-growth businesses, including in the fields of alcohol production, wireless technology, clothing and fundraising for the Terry Fox run, and real estate and sports.
Reynolds bought the Wrexham AFC, the North Wales soccer club, in 2020 and has since been investing in the team’s marketing and branding with the aim of bringing the team up to the professional leagues. He also bought property on Wales only a few miles from the teams’ pitch.
It was announced in March that Reynolds sold his budget wireless provider company, Mint Mobile, to T-Mobile US Inc. for $1.35 billion.
Ryan Reynolds gives Canada props
The Canadian-born entrepreneur and father of four commented on Nuvei’s statement, stating that it is about time a Canadian company gets the same kind of attention as American institutions.
“I know about as much about fintech as I did about gin or mobile a few years ago,” Reynolds wrote in the statement. “But Nuvei is impressive. The leadership team is exceedingly intelligent and hard-working.”
“[A]nd it’s about time a Canadian company got the type of attention American tech companies do.”
Nuvei glad to have Reynolds aboard
Nuvei acquired B2B and Integrated Payments Technology provider Paya in January 2023, and since then has accelerated its growth.
Phil Fayer, Nuvei Chair and CEO, also commented on the announcement.

What does Nuvei do?
According to their website, Nuvei is a global payments technology company.
The company has an aim to accelerate card-holding customers’ revenue growth through payments. It reaches 200 countries, and offers access to 600 alternative payment methods, connecting eCommerce businesses and customers worldwide.
