Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are in competition yet again.

The Hollywood actors have a long-standing camaraderie where they constantly poke public jabs at one another and engage in macho competition.

The latest challenge was instigated by Reynolds, as the two are training for their upcoming movie, ‘Deadpool 3′.

Reynolds’ beast of a competition

Reynolds told ET Canada that he’s trying to keep up with his “beast” of a co-star.

“I’m trying… Hugh Jackman is a beast, you know?” Reynolds said. “He’s clearly obsessed with his own body.”

“So, keeping up with someone who’s that diligent is going to be challenging. But, yeah, it’s been fun.

Always one to lob the ball back to Reynold’s court, Jackman responded in step to Reynold’s interview.

“More like petrified,” Jackman said. “Have you seen you?”

Reynolds chased Jackman

Reynolds admitted that he was the one to pursue Jackman to make the sequel.

“I mean, I never stopped… I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years,” the ‘Free Guy’ actor said. “I believe in timing, as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet. Timing’s the big one. I think he was ready. I think he was excited.”

“And what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”

Jackman gearing up for the role of Wolverine

Jackman plays the effervescent Wolverine, having appeared as the superhero character nine times since 2000. The 54-year-old actor is preparing to wield the canine claws of treachery yet again.

In March, the ‘Wolverine’ star posted on social media that he is eating 8,000 calories per day, including multiple steaks, chicken burgers, and bass, to bulk up for filming.

Reynolds caught the post, and responded by posting a picture of himself hanging out at the gym.

Keeping Up With The Jackmans,” the actor deadpanned in the caption.
