Sam Rockwell’s ‘White Lotus’ cameo has everyone talking: This is the actor’s long list of awards and nominations

Following its release last month, the third season ‘The White Lotus’ of the scandalous globe-trotting comedy-drama has been a big hit for HBO.

After trips to the Hawaii and Sicily, season three is based on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand. The new season brings with it a (largely) new cast and a whole host of gorgeous new locations to serve as backdrop.

‘The White Lotus’ has garnered numerous Emmy Awards with slick writing and edge-of-your-seat drama, but the luxurious surroundings at the eponymous hotel is also a big attraction.

Rockwell cameo

56-year-old actor Sam Rockwell made a surprise cameo in the fifth episode of the third season of The White Lotus. The episode aired on March 16, 2025, and featured him playing the character Frank, who meets Rick (Walton Goggins) in Bangkok. The two have a talk about Frank’s conversion to Buddhism and his prior sexual history in Thailand.

Rockwell’s career awards

The California native is best known for playing a stressed police officer Jason Dixon in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) and he he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role.

He was also nominated in the same category the following year for the political satire Vice (2018) for his portrayal as George W. Bush. The miniseries Fosse/Verdon (FX: 2019) and his portrayal of Bob Fosse earned an Emmy nomination, while his performance in the Broadway revival of American Buffalo (2022) garnered a Tony nomination.
