Shakira and Gerard Piqué costumes keep popping up at Carnival celebrations
Months after the official breakup, Shakira and Gerard Piqué characters are dancing in parades across Spain.
The Shakira and Gerard Piqué story continues to make headlines, this time without either of them being physically present in the noteworthy incident.
Taking advantage of the current controversy
The couple made an indirect appearance at this year’s Carnival parades and celebrations hosted across Colombia, Brazil, Spain, and more.
Videos shared across social media show that the crowds and parades cannot get enough of Shakira’s post-breakup song with Bizarrap. The clips show people wearing various outfits inspired by Shakira and Piqué.
One video showed dancers dressed up as Shakira from her latest music video, singing along to the song and walking in the parade. Other videos show people dressed up in Barcelona soccer kits with Piqué's number on their backs.
Floats in the shape of Casino watches, Twingo vehicles and more were spotted. Another video shows off a float with various references to the couple’s widely publicized breakup.
References to Shakira’s latest song
On TikTok, there appears to be a float with a real Twingo car, sporting a woman inside pretending to be Shakira singing. It references the translated lyrics “You changed a Ferrari for a Twingo,” from Shakira’s latest song.
Several men dressed as Piqué followed close by, walking alongside the car, and there also appears to be a woman dressed as a witch. A likely reference to the witch doll Shakira placed on her balcony.
The singer placed a disturbing witch mannequin on her balcony, which faced her ex-mother-in-law’s house, and blasted her Piqué diss track following the breakup.
The TikTok is from a parade located in Galicia, Spain. There are also several people dressed up as reporters and camera crew poking fun at the heightened media involvement throughout the breakup.
Behind the Twingo car appears to be two people dressed up as Piqué and his new girlfriend Clara Chía, who are being recorded by the several people with fake cameras and microphones.
