Shakira has released a new song, and it is all about a mother’s love for her children — specifically her own, as the mother-of-two croons in Spanish while the names of her children play on the screen.

The singer shares two children with her former husband, Gerard Piqué, who she was with for 10 years.

Shakira’s song about her children

Three of Shakira’s latest hits had references to the soccer player after their breakup, but now the singer has dedicated her latest song to her two sons, Milan and Sasha, who are aged 10 and 8.

Shakira’s latest song ‘Acróstico’, was released on May 11, and she expresses her love as a mother with phrases whose initial letters form their names.

The animated video

The video that accompanies the song, unlike the last ones, is animated. Viewers can see a mother bird protecting her two pink chicks in the nest and teaching them to fly, with themes of love and resilience dominating the imagery.

“You taught me that love is not a scam and that when it’s real it doesn’t end / I tried not to let you see me cry, not to let you see my fragility / Things are not as we dream them / Sometimes we run, but we don’t get there / Never doubt that I’ll be here,” she sings while the name of her eldest son appears in the video.

Later in the song, Sasha’s part talks about the need to know how to forgive and face the obstacles that life presents in the best way.

“We broke only one plate, not the whole set of dishes / Learning to forgive is wise, that only love comes out of those lips / If things are damaged, do not throw them away, they are repaired, problems are faced and faced / You have to laugh at life / Even though the wounds hurt, you have to give your heart whole,” Shakira sings in the song.
