This Valentine’s Day newly single Shakira looks to have celebrated the day by taking the opportunity to shade her ex, Gerard Piqué.

The singer marked the day by posting a video of her lip-syncing to SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’ while mopping her kitchen.

The 25-second long video was shared on TikTok and features no caption, but plenty of comments calling out Shakira’s subtle past relationship reference.

Clues in the lyrics

The lyrics to SZA’s ‘Kill Bill’ is undeniable about going after an ex and their newest partner. The specific lyrics from the song heard in Shakira’s TikTok are,

“I might kill my ex/Not the best idea/His new girlfriend’s next, how’d I get here?”

Shakira continues to lip-sync in the video: “I might kill my ex/I still love him though/Rather be in jail than alone/I did it all for love.”

The song has gone viral on TikTok before Shakira hopped on the trend, with 182.2 thousand posts using the song.

This is not Shakira’s first cryptic reference to her ex though, in her latest song many fans have been quick to assume her lyrics reference Piqué and his new girlfriend.

The song, when translated into English reads as, “I wish you luck with my supposed replacement / I don’t even know what happened to you.”

The song continues on with, “I’m worth two of 22 [year old] / You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded a Rolex for a Casio / You’re going fast, slow down / Lots of time at the gym, but your brain needs a little work too.”

Piqué and Shakira

The couple first confirmed their relationship in 2011 after meeting a year prior on the set of her music video ‘Waka Waka.” In June of 2022, the couple announced their separation with a joint statement.

Several months later numerous news outlets reported that Shakira allegedly found out Piqué was cheating after realizing some of her jam was missing after coming home from the tour. Her theory hinges on Pique and their two kids allegedly hating jam.

While Shakira stays single after the split, it has been reported that Piqué has a new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti. The two have been linked since August 2022, and Piqué seemingly confirmed the rumors of their relationship by posting a selfie of them together on his Instagram in late January.
