Country music legend Shania Twain loves having fun with her appearance. She recently bared some skin at the CMT Music Awards, and she’s hit back at critics of her adventurous looks.
After receiving numerous comments and messages about her ‘inappropriate’ clothing choices, Twain took to social media to publicly defend her decision. Many of the comments expressed sentiments of wanting the singer to go back to her true country roots.

Twain remains unfazed, confident in her bold outfit choices, both at the CMT Music Awards, where she teased an unexpected collaboration, and in daily life.
“For me fashion is a powerful tool that helps to convey my personality and express my creativity and other than getting to hang out with my friends for the night, it’s one of my favourite things about attending award shows!” the singer captioned her Instagram post.

Twain’s caption accompanied an Instagram carousel post showing off her fun, colourful, and risqué CMT Awards looks. She also gave a shout-out to her styling team for their hard work.
Though Twain’s Instagram post was still met with backlash from a few critics, some fans supported Twain in the comments and defended her cavalier approach to fashion.
“Can people just stop telling her how she should look, according to what you want her to look like?” wrote one commenter. “
“Nobody is telling you that you need to change. She’s a performer and if she wants to dress up during performances, she will. Period!”

The country music singer loves changing up her look. Along with donning a scandalous outfit every now and then, Twain’s latest passion is experimenting with fun hair colors and styles.
“I’m playing more with color right now, and I’m enjoying that because I’m going gray,” the 57-year-old singer dished to E! Magazine on the CMT Music Awards red carpet.
“It’s almost an excuse to play with color and embrace it. I just enjoy playing around with it, like fashion.”
