SKIMS shoppers surprised by Kim Kardashian at pop up shop

Shoppers were in for a treat when Kim Kardashian herself joined them at the brand’s Valentine’s Day-themed L.A. pop-up shop on Thursday.

SKIMS fans attending the Valentine’s Shop Pop-Up at Westfield Century City mall in Los Angeles were pleasantly surprised when the brand founder, celebrity Kim Kardashian, made an appearance.

A pink dream

The SKIMS founder wore a pink set to the pop-up shop, matching the Valentine’s Day theme that found the shop decorated entirely pink with melting candy heart sculptures.

To promote the collection, Kardashian also enlisted the help of ‘White Lotus’ season 2 actresses Simona Tabasco and Bea Granno (who played Lucia and Mia) to model the Valentine’s Day collection.

Having her own store was a childhood dream

Kardashian expressed her joy at seeing the shop set up in an Instagram story post, saying,

“Having my own @skims pop up store at the Century City Mall means the world to me in so many ways. This was the mall my friends and I would beg our parents to go hang out at every weekend growing up. That little girl never dreamed I would have my own store here and I couldn’t be more proud of my entire @skims team for making my wildest dreams come true.

Joining the shapewear trend

Kardashian started the brand back in June 2019 as a shapewear and clothing brand designed to make pieces that compliment women of all shapes and sizes. She also wanted to create shapewear that was comfortable compared to what was already on the market.

The brand had some controversy at the beginning when it was originally called “Kimono”. Critics called it cultural appropriation, especially after Kardashian attempted to trademark the word, which is also the name of a traditional Japanese garment worn by all genders.

Catch the pop-up before it closes

The SKIMS pop-up is on for a limited time, from Wednesday, February 8 to Sunday, February 12, between 11:00 am-9:00 pm, giving fans just enough time to shop the collection in person before it sells out.
