Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski accident trial in Utah continues, but her viral quote from last week has become quite the story on social media.

During one of the days, Paltrow took the stand to testify and was asked about the losses she has suffered from the accident.

Her response: “Well, we lost half a day of skiing.”

Busy Philipps takes aim at Gwyneth Paltrow

Since then, social media has been full of reactions, including one from Busy Philipps.

The actress posted an Instagram selfie while out for drinks with friend Jen Tullock, and she poked fun at Paltrow in the caption.

“Well, we lost a half day of skiing,” Philipps captioned the post. The two can be seen leaning in front of the camera with stern faces as they hold up what appeared to be espresso martinis.

Phillips wasn’t alone in poking fun at Paltrow’s response, with countless Twitter users joining in.

“texting all my friends ‘well … I lost half a day of skiing’ next time any minor inconvenience befalls me,” wrote one user.

Another poked fun at Paltrow’s performance, stating it was worthy of an Oscar.

“Gwyneth didn’t get an Oscar for Shakespeare In Love, she got it for “well, I lost half a day of skiing,” the user wrote.

Another shared a picture of Mario from Super Mario Bros. clutching his chest in pain with the caption: “Gwyneth Paltrow after losing half a day of skiing.”

Another user stated he needed to find a way to turn the quote into a Halloween costume: “I need to find a way of making “well, I lost half a day of skiing” into a Halloween costume this year.”

Paltrow and the trial

Paltrow is being sued by retired Utah optometrist Terry Sanderson, who first filed a lawsuit against her back in January 2019.

Originally, the now 76-year-old was seeking damages in excess of $3.1 million after claiming the accident had resulted in “permanent traumatic brain injury”, four broken ribs, pain, suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement and emotional distress.

Since then, that figure has been lowered to $300,000 by Judge Kent. R. Holmberg, while Paltrow is seeking $1 in damages plus legal fees.
