‘South Park’ under fire from the MAGA movement over the murder of Charlie Kirk: “Monsters”
The United States is still trying to process the brutal murder of Charlie Kirk, who was shot in the neck while holding one of his regular outdoor debates on a college campus in Utah. Kirk was a leading figure within the conservative MAGA movement, one of its most influential voices among young people due to his oratory and media presence, making him a target for parody in the current season of “South Park.” Now, various voices are attacking Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s show, accusing them of being nothing short of complicit in the murder.
Social Media Outcry
In Season 27, Episode 2, “Got a Nut,” Cartman adopted the political activist’s hairstyle, mannerisms, and debating style, aiming to humiliate “woke liberals” with his rhetoric. Charlie Kirk himself mentioned that he loved the parody, calling it “hilarious” and a “medal of honor.” But amid the grief and outrage over his loss, voices within the conservative movement are railing against the show, accusing it of putting a target on his head.
The popular Johnny Maga account, with nearly 250,000 followers, launched a direct accusation against the show, seen by more than 5 million accounts: “South Park attacking Charlie Kirk’s campus events and mocking his Christian faith a few weeks ago. Monsters.” Although it appears the post has recently been removed.
