Storm Reid hopes for a “less heartbreaking” Season 3 of ‘Euphoria’

Since the show started in 2019, Reid says she hopes her character Gia can finally find “more joy” in her life.

Update:
Since the show started in 2019, Reid says she hopes her character Gia can finally find “more joy” in her life.

‘Euphoria’ is a show that is known for its drama. From mental health struggles to problems in relationships, the show covers it all.

But after three years and almost three seasons of hard topics and lots of emotions, actress Storm Reid, who plays Rue’s (Zendaya) little sister Gia, revealed to Screen Rant that she hopes there’s more light in her character’s future this coming season.

“Gia, I hope that you get to smile. I hope you get to laugh. I hope you get some ice cream or something,” Reid says “No, I hope we get to see Gia [smile] more, but my overarching hope for season 3 is just more levity, more joy, more grace. I think we have covered the entire spectrum of emotions in Euphoria over the last two seasons, so hopefully season 3 is a little less heartbreaking.”

What is ‘Euphoria’ about?

The series is an American adaptation of the Israeli show of the same name.

The show “follows the troubled life of 17-year-old Rue, a drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean. Circling in Rue’s orbit is Jules (Hunter Schafer), a transgender girl searching for where she belongs.

Although the show covers sensitive topics, both Zendaya and her castmates have spoken out about the goals of the show.

“Our show is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing,” Zendaya explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “If anything, the feeling behind Euphoria, or whatever we have always been trying to do with it, is to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience and their pain. And maybe feel like they’re not the only one going through or dealing with what they’re dealing with.”

She went on to explain, “My biggest hope is that people are able to connect to it and those who need to heal and grow with Rue hopefully, by the end of this season, feel that hope and feel that change in her. I’ve had a lot of people reach out and find so many parallels from all ages, all walks of life. So many parallels with Rue and her story and Rue means a lot to them in a way that I can understand, but also maybe in a way that I could never understand, and that means the most to all of us.”

Who stars in ‘Euphoria’?

When ‘Euphoria’ first aired in 2019 several cast members were lesser-known actors and actresses, but since then both the show and the stars have turned into A-list celebrities. Apart from Zendaya, Hunter Schafer and Storm Reid, some of the cast includes Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Angus Cloud, Maude Apatow, Jacob Elordi, Javon Walton and more.

When will Season 3 come out?

Since Season three was announced back in February 2022, no news or updates have come out about a specific release date for the hit HBO series.
