A24 has just released the trailer for the upcoming horror movie ‘Talk To Me’, and it looks like it has the potential to become the scariest horror movie they’ve released thus far, following in the footsteps of ‘Hereditary’ and ‘Midsommar’.

The Australian movie is directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, and stars Sophie Wilde, Joe Bird, Alexandra Jensen, Otis Dhanji, Miranda Ott. It follows a group of teens who come into possession of a mysterious hand statue that allows them to speak with the dead.

The trailer for ‘Talk to Me’

The trailer opens with Sophia Wilde, as Mia, and Alexandra Jensen as Jade, hanging out together in bed as they watch videos of what appears to be a group of people purposefully possessing themselves with the hand as a new party trend.

Mia says she wants to participate as it is her mother’s remembrance day. The hand activates some kind of supernatural link when someone grabs it, allowing them to communicate with the dead after it’s activated with the words, “talk to me”.

After Mia’s interaction with the mysterious hand, she says that her experience was amazing and that she could experience “the other side”, including her mother’s presence.

But as the trailer reveals, whatever was on the other side begins attempting to break into the world of the living, wreaking havoc and horror along the way.

High praise for ‘Talk to Me’

After its Sundance 2023 premiere, the movie opened to rave reviews, where it was purchased by A24 in a fierce bidding war, with a deal somewhere in the “high seven-figure range” according to sources at Variety.

The movie is being produced by the Australian production company Causeway Films, who also produced the critically acclaimed horror movie ‘The Babadook’.

So far, the horror movie has received an approval rating of 97% based on 58 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directorial debut for Danny and Michael Philippou

‘Talk To Me’ is the directorial debut of twin brothers Danny and Michael Philippou, who have earned a following from their YouTube channel, RackaRacka, with their horror comedy videos.

‘Talk to Me’ will be theatrically released on July 28, 2023.
