The Eras Tour continues to make its way across Europe and after sold-out shows in France, Sweden, Portugal and Spain, the first port of call for the record breaking global tour in the United Kingdom was Edinburgh where the 34-year-old wooed the crowds over three nights at Murrayfield Stadium.

Swift’s Eras Tour is the highest grossing of all time, becoming the first to surpass $1 billion dollars in revenue last year and is poised to set new merchandising records too. Taylor is projected to generate another $500 million in merchandise sales alone by the time her round the world jaunt comes to an end in Canada at the start of December.

The singer-songwriter’s shows during her tour of the British Isles will bring in an estimated £1 billion to the local economy before the Pennsylvania born leaves the UK on 1 July for dates in Amsterdam, Zurich , Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Munich, Warsaw and Vienna before returning to London for a second run of shows at Wembley on 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20 August with every show on the tour a complete sell-out.

One of the highlights on the Eras Tour has become the ‘secret songs’ section where Swift deviates from the standard set-list and performs rare or less heralded tracks. Such was the case last Saturday night in Edinburgh where she performed ‘Crazier’ for the first time ever live with the track being preceded by ‘All of the Girls you Loved Before’. ‘Crazier’ was originally released in 2009 and forms part of the soundtrack to the film Hannah Montana: The Movie.

Next stop Liverpool

The Eras Tour juggernaut heads to Liverpool which is set to be briefly rechristened Taylor Town by the local tourist board during her visit.

The singer-songwriter plays three nights (13,14 and 15 June) at Anfield with the stadium being home to Premier League giants Liverpool FC and a tweet posted from her official Eras Tour X account has not gone down well with fans of arch city rivals Everton.

The post included a recent photo and the message: “You’ll never walk alone when you’re at ‘The Eras Tour’! Taylor Swift officially takes over Liverpool, UK for the 100TH SHOW of ‘The Eras Tour’ in exactly 3 days on JUNE 13TH! #LiverpoolTSTheErasTour” along with a series of emojis.

Two football (soccer) teams dominate the city with locals either fans of the Reds (Liverpool) or the Blues (Everton FC) and with the songYou’ll Never Walk Alone’ being synonymous with Liverpool supporters, some Evertonians feel Swift has ‘alienated’ them with her social media post.

As Ms. Swift may say to appease any disgruntled Everton fans and paraphrase a track from her Lover album ... “You Need to Calm Down”...
