Taylor Swift reveals she secretly dated Travis Kelce “for months”

To put the seal on a memorable 2023, Taylor Swift has been named Person of the Year by TIME magazine. To commemorate it, the ‘Karma’ singer gave an extensive interview to the North American outlet, in which he opened up about the struggles she has encountered during her career, as well as his new, high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

According to what Taylor herself expressed, and contrary to what many believe, the relationship between the singer and the NFL star did not begin after her first appearance in the stands of Arrowhead Stadium, when she showed up at the Chiefs’ first game of the season - it goes back much than that. The singer revealed that she secretly dated Travis “for months ” before making their courtship public.

“It all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date,” she confessed.

So when did Cupid’s bow strike? The podcast in which Kelce gave a nod to Taylor was published on 26 July, while Swift’s first appearance at an NFL game did not occur until the end of September, which means that the now couple spent, at least two months dating secretly.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when then camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads”, she concluded.

Making the relationship public

Unlike her former relationship with Joe Alwyn, which was kept secret, her current romance has stood out for being truly high-profile. But why? The reason is simple: The artist enjoys watching her partner do what she loves.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” he continues, “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other”.

Travis, not afraid of the spotlight

Like Taylor, Travis also expressed pride in their relationship through an interview for The Wall Street Journal, the same one in which he claimed to feel good despite being in the middle of the spotlight.

“The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life,” he told The Wall Street Journal last November 20.
