Following the news that Taylor Swift had officially called it off with now ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, fans have scoured her discography to listen to all the songs about her ex.

As a result, Swift’s music has reported a spike in streaming numbers, as fans attempt to piece together the story of Swift’s relationship with Alwyn via her music.

The Taylor Swift fan account, SpotifySwiftie on Twitter, monitors the singer’s Spotify streaming numbers, capturing a number of very specific songs that have captured fans’ attention.

Which songs saw an increase in streams?

Swift and Alwyn began dating in 2017, the same year that Swift released ‘Reputation’, which is where fans began their hunt for the earliest songs about the British actor.

Songs like ‘Gorgeous’, about Alwyn’s blue eyes and Swift making fun of his accent, and ‘King of My Heart’ about their close bond are among the songs seeing a spike in popularity, joined by ‘happiness’ from ‘evermore’ released in 2020.

The song ‘Sweet Nothing’ from ‘Midnights’, saw a 30% increase in numbers, while ‘the 1′ from ‘folklore’ saw 39%.

In the 40% to 60% range, the songs ‘New Year’s Day’ from ‘Reputation’, ‘peace’ from ‘folklore’, and ‘Daylight’ from ‘Lover’ saw increases.

But the song that saw the most increase in streams, so far, is ‘Cornelia Street’ from ‘Lover’ with a 106% increase in streams.

The ‘Cornelia Street’ lyrics refer to an old apartment the couple rented on Cornelia Street in New York City’s West Village. The lyrics of the song allude to Swift’s inability to ever walk on the street again if they were to break up.

“And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends / I’d never walk Cornelia Street again / That’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend.”

The increased popularity of the song is also causing fans to visit the street, leaving flowers outside Swift’s old apartment, a symbol of their collective mourning for her relationship.

Fans look for breakup hints in ‘Eras Tour’ shows

Swifties have also looked at setlist song choices for the ongoing ‘Eras Tour’ that may have hinted at Swift and Alwyn’s breakup, which occurred weeks before it was formally announced.

During a performance of the song ‘Champagne Problems’, Swift appeared to become emotional.

Another fan noticed a switch in songs, saying Swift had switched “‘Invisible String’ (a song about hopeful love) to ‘The 1′ (a song about past love).”
