Ted Lasso season four release date: New cast members, plot and production locations

Ted Lasso became a global phenomenon by being the “right show at the right time” as the show follows the journey of an ultra-optimistic American football/soccer coach (expertly played by Jason Sudeikis) who is unexpectedly recruited to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League soccer team.

The Kansas native has zero experience with the sport and it is eventually revealed that the club’s owner, Rebecca Welton, hired him as a sabotage plot to spite her ex-husband. What begins as a fish-out-of-water comedy evolves into a poignant exploration of leadership, mental health, and the power of empathy in a cynical world.

After months of speculation, Apple TV+ confirmed on January 28, 2026, that the ‘Greyhounds’ are heading back to the pitch.

While a specific day hasn’t been locked in, Apple TV+ has officially announced a Summer 2026 release window.

New plot & cast

The big “reset” for Season 4 involves Ted returning to England to coach a second-division women’s football team for AFC Richmond. This shift brings a wave of new talent to the roster as Tanya Reynolds joins as a series regular, playing Ted’s new assistant coach.

Grant Feely takes over the role of Henry Lasso (Ted’s son), replacing Gus Turner with Faye Marsay (known for her roles in Andor and Game of Thrones) also joining the series.

Series 4 production locations

Filming officially began in July 2025 and has utilized two primary hubs:

Kansas City, Missouri: Several early scenes were filmed in Jason Sudeikis’ hometown, specifically at Gates Bar-B-Q, the Country Club Plaza, and the CPKC Stadium (home of the real-world KC Current women’s team).

London/Richmond, UK: Production moved back to the UK in late 2025 to film at the familiar Richmond Green and the “Crown & Anchor” pub (The Prince’s Head).
