What you need to know about ‘The Chosen’
‘The Chosen’, released by Angel Studios, is a completely crowd-funded production that explores the life of Jesus and his 12 disciples through the three years of Jesus’ public ministry. The first three seasons have had over 500 million views worldwide.
Audiences experience how the disciples, the rich, the poor, the religious, the outcasts, the Roman soldiers, and the rulers, all respond to and interact with Jesus as He performs miracles, heals people, makes friends, and stirs up big-time trouble.
The series is directed by Dallas Jenkins, and written by Jenkins, Ryan Swanson, and Tyler Thompson.
Jonathan Roumie plays the lead role of Jesus.
According to Warnock, the team has Biblical scholars review the scripts for accuracy, and is “currently onboarding some Jewish scholars to ensure the show accurately portrays what life was like for the Jewish people under Roman rule in Jesus’ time.”
‘The Chosen’ cast like family on and off the set
The ‘Chosen’ cast reportedly have great camaraderie, as they play sports on their breaks, and try not to take themselves seriously when they make mistakes.
Katherine Warnock, VP of original content for ‘The Chosen’, who oversees huge cinematic undertakings such as planning for the incredible scene where Jesus miraculously feeds the 5000 people who had gathered to hear Him speak, talked about how well the cast gets along.
“What you see on screen is truly authentic behind the camera as well,” Warnock told the Daily Signal of ‘The Chosen’ cast. “They are truly family.”
“They really love each other,” the creative VP continued. “They really support each other.”
Whenever they aren’t shooting, ‘The Chosen’ cast is having fun together.
“They’re playing football games all the time. They’re playing Frisbee,” Warnock said. “The sweat you see in the scenes is real because they were probably just off-screen having a massive pileup playing Frisbee.”
