The remaining cast of ‘Mary Poppins’: Only three are still alive

Born in Chicago, Joe played varsity football and baseball in Bowling Green, Ohio for BGHS and later played lacrosse at BGSU. A year abroad in Spain changed everything. As destiny would have it he ended up living in Zaragoza, running his own business, teaching Journalism at a private university then working as a SEO journalist for Diario AS.
Update:

Dick Van Dyke turns 100 years old on Dec. 13. The classic Disney film ‘Mary Poppins’ came out in 1964, and now, 61 years later, only 3 of the main cast members are still with us.

Calvin Coolidge was president when Dick Van Dyke was born in 1925. Since then, there have been 16 U.S. presidents to take office, nine Popes and 1 Queen of England. When ‘Mary Poppins’ came out, Van Dyke, who was 39 years old, had already lived through WWII and was an established Broadway actor and had his own TV show, ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show,’ which ran from 1961 to 1966 on CBS.

His career continued to skyrocket through the rest of the 60s, 70s and 80s on shows like ‘The Carol Burnett Show,’ ‘Matlock’ and ‘Andy Griffith.’ Now, 100 years later the actor is still with us and so is his costar in ‘Mary Poppins,’ Julie Andrews.

The third remaining cast member from ‘Mary Poppins’

61 years after the release of ‘Mary Poppins’ only three cast members are still with us. Most of the beloved actors from the movie have passed away: David Tomilson, the actor who played Mr. Banks, Mary Poppins’ employer, passed away in 2000. The other characters, like the cook and maid of the Banks residence, as well as police officer, the disgruntled nanny and eccentric neighbor Admiral Boom, have all been outlived by Van Dyke and Andrews as one other cast member.

The daughter of the Banks house, Jane Banks, played by Karen Dotrice, is still with us today. The actress is now 70 years old and outlived her onscreen brother, played by Matthew Garber, who died at the age of 21.
