The unexpected way Taylor Swift’s new album is being linked to Trump
Taylor Swift has done it again, shocking the world with a surprise album announcement. But there’s one detail fans can’t help but notice.
Taylor Swift fans are buzzing over her newly announced album, “The Life of a Showgirl”. As usual, she left hints and clues for her loyal fanbase to put together the pieces themselves. She will be the guest star on the next episode of her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights”, and the announcement came during a teaser for the episode. Although she hasn’t yet announced the release date, it’s expected that she will do so on the episode itself, which will premiere on Wednesday (August 13) at 7 p.m. ET.
Of the many breadcrumbs Swift left for her fans leading up to the announcement, one has fans sharing an amusing theory about the current president of the United States.
Taylor Swift’s album teaser sparks hilarious Trump theory among fans
Before Swift was announced as the guest on “New Heights”, fans figured it out pretty easily. Her official social media team, Taylor Nation, posted clues including a post with the caption “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era...’”. In all the photos, Swift is wearing orange. In the poster for the newest episode of “New Heights”, the background was orange as well - different from their usual yellow, cluing the fans in to the connection.
On Swift’s official website, fans can pre-order Swift’s album, and the color scheme of the merch is the same glittery orange.
The orange detail, in particular, sparked a flurry of online jokes and theories connecting it to Donald Trump, whose famously orange-tinted complexion has long been meme fodder. Fans joked that Swift might be “reclaiming” the color orange from Trump, with some even speculating that the color choice could be a subtle jab at the former president - especially given their recent political clashes and his recent “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” outburst on social media.
One social media user said: “Taylor be like ‘Orange is so wasted on Trump, lemme change that real quick’.”
Another commented: “Orange Taylor Swift album, I just know Trump is mad she took his color.”
While these theories are entirely speculative, the humor and timing have reignited the ongoing cultural tug-of-war between Swifties and Trump supporters.
