These are the reasons why Jon Bon Jovi has declared his support for Kamala Harris

The New Jersey-born rock star endorsed the Democrat candidate with a video for his new song, “The People’s House” together with a statement on Instagram.

Jon Bon Jovi will be voting blue on 5 November and has written a song to explain why. The People’s House (featuring The War And Treaty) is the seventh track on the New Jersey band’s 16th studio album, Forever, which was released on Island back in June.

This week, an accompanying video for The People’s House was released in which the singer is joined by The War And Treaty (Michael Trotter Jr and Tanya Trotter). Shot in black and white and featuring iconic locations such as John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville and the Statue of Liberty, the video shows Jon Bon Jovi getting his patriotic message across: “These halls are our city streets / No wrecking ball is gonna knock it down / Nobody’s gonna come to steal the keys”.

Bon Jovi: 'The People's House' lyrics

Come in and leave your mind open
It's time we let love in
Mother, father, I am broken
Barely breathing but I'm hoping
There's forgiveness for my sins

I had a dream last night
And in that dream I lost my sight
Life left me deaf, dumb, and blind, woke up to realize
We're still asleep with open eyes

We are building this house of love
Building this house, building this house

This is the people's house
From sea to shining sea
The Rocky Mountains built these walls
These halls are our city streets
No wrecking ball is gonna knock it down
Nobody's gonna come to steal the keys
This is the people's house
The house of you and me

Time for the turning of the page
It's time to say goodbye, old ways have changed
No crime to look out for each other
Father, mother, sister, brother
Can't keep fighting one another

We are building this house of love
Building this house, building this house

This is the people's house
From sea to shining sea
The Rocky Mountains built these walls
These halls are our city streets
No wrecking ball is gonna knock it down
Nobody's gonna come to steal the keys
This is the people's house
The house of you and me, yeah

I wasn't born a man of privilege
But I'm privileged just the same
No rain will wash away the stain
Truth can hide us from the shame
'Til we all believe in change

We are building this house of love
Building this house, building this house

This is the people's house
From sea to shining sea
The Rocky Mountains built these walls
These halls are our city streets
No wrecking ball is gonna knock it down
Nobody's gonna come to steal the keys

This is the people's house
The house of you and me

This is the people's house

The New Jersey-born rock star later elaborated on why he will be voting for Democrat Kamala Harris for president and Tim Walz for vicepresident in next month’s US elections.

“The People’s House is a song that celebrates this beautiful place that we call home, from sea to shining sea. The truth matters. And the truth is on election day I’ll be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz because I believe in the power of we, not of me. I’ve written a song reminding us that out of many, we are still one.”

Bon Jovi has long been a supporter of the Democratic party. He performed an acoustic version of The Beatles’ Here Comes the Sun at ‘Celebrate America’, Biden-Harris’ 2021 Inauguration.

Springsteen backs Harris-Walz

He is not the only artist from the music world to endorse Harris. A couple of days ago, Bruce Springsteen posted a video to deliver his message: “We are shortly coming upon one of the most consequential elections in our nation’s history - perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as politically, spiritually and emotionally divided as it does than at this moment. It doesn’t have to be this way”.

Other A-listers who have lined up behind Harris and Watz include: Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo.

Trump has his celebrity followers too, including Elon Musk, Kid Rock, 50 Cent, Dennis Quaid, Jon Voight, Brittany Mahomes and Tucker Carlson.
