Update:

When supermodel Heidi Klum moved to New York in the 1990s she was a bit disappointed by the Halloween parties that she attended. “I was like: ‘This is the biggest city in the world. How come no one really does a super special Halloween party where everyone goes all-out?’” she explained on Good Morning America.

“That’s it? This is Halloween?” she recalled asking herself. Really wanting to do one of her own parties she said to herself: “We can do better than that.”

And oh, has she! For the past 25 years Klum has been throwing “a really big bash,” inviting hundreds of guests and stunning everyone with truly over-the-top costumes.

Klum set out to don “a great costume” at her annual Halloween party and every year she out does herself spending hours getting into character with a team of make-up artists. She rated some of her outfits for her spooky bash for Good Morning America.

The first one that she wore in 2000 was her being “just” Heidi. She donned a skin-tight black patent leather outfit and a wig with Pippi Longstocking braids. “It wasn’t quite as fabulous. But the intention was there,” she said as at the time she was still doing her own makeup and hair.

She gave that costume a one out of ten. But the ones that really stood out for her were her Jessica Rabbit in 2015, which she gave a seven, Rain Worm in 2022, and E.T. in 2024, the last two she gave a ten. The following is a list of the costumes she’s worn each year:

2000: Heidi

2001: Lady Godiva

2002: Betty Boop

2003: Gold Alien

2004: Red Witch

2005: Vampire

2006: Forbidden Fruit

2007: Cat

2008: Hindu Goddess Kali

2009: Crow

2010: Alien transformer

2011 (Party 1): Visible Woman (no skin cadaver)

2011 (Party 2): Ape

2012: Cleopatra

2013: Elderly Heidi

2014: Butterfly

2015: Jessica Rabbit

2016: Heidi Clones

2017: ‘Thriller’ Werewolf

2018: Fiona From ‘Shrek’

2019: Alien

2020: A Cork Board, Bed, and Knight

2021: Zombie

2022: Rain Worm

2023: Peacock

2024: E.T.

The supermodel shared that she begins planning her next costume basically as soon as the pervious bash has finished due to their complexity.

“I usually plan my Halloween costumes a year in advance because they have to be built,” Klum explained. She said that her custom-made costumes are “like a puzzle” that have to be assembled onto her body on the day of the party.

“It’s more [laborious] for the person making it than for me,” Klum shared. “For me it’s easy on that day. I just show up and I let the artists do all the work.”

What will she wear this year? She says she is “ready already,” and teased that she is “going to be very ugly, and very scary, but very ugly.”
