Tobey Maguire tells Marvel he would gladly play Spider-Man again

The ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ actor says given the opportunity, he would reprise his role as Peter Parker.

Peter Parker fans will be glad to hear Tobey Maguire is happy to keep the Spider-Man film franchise going. The actor last played the famous role in Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield.

Maguire recently spoke about his experiences in the Sam Raimi’s action trilogy and reflected on returning to the big screen to reprise his role. Maguire found the previous projects to be so positive that he would be excited to do another.

The ‘Great Gatsby’ actor told Marvel in an interview published Thursday that he would be keen to make more Spider-Man movies.

I love these films and I love all of the different series,” Maguire said. “If these guys called me and said, ‘Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?’ or ‘Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?’ it would be a ‘yes!’”

The 47-year-old confided that he was both nervous and excited to get the call for ‘No Way Home’.

“When they called initially, I was like finally! I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this,” Maguire said. “Not without nerves – you know, ‘What will this look like and what will the experience be?’”

“But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, ‘Yes!’ It’s fun and exciting. Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?”

Tobey Maguire talks Super-Man

Maguire got personal during the Marvel interview by talking about the challenges he faces while playing the role of Spider-Man. The star said it can be hard at times to take on such a role so fully.

“[It can] definitely be a challenge at times when you’ve got to get into the full thing”, Maguire explained. “But then, once you’re comfortable, there is something fun about it.”

One of the strategies the ‘Spider-Man’ actor used to get comfortable in the role was to wear the classic blue-and-red full-body costume more often.

“As an actor, it helps when you get in your costume,” Maguire said. “You begin to feel it more and embody it more…You start to feel pretty at home pretty swiftly.”

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ was a huge commercial success at the box office and raked in almost $2 billion worldwide as it brought together three different iterations of Spider-Man played by Maguire, Holland and Garfield.
