ANGELA WEISSAFP

Excitement is building as the latest edition of the Tony Awards arrives. For those that don’t know, this is an annual ceremony that celebrates achievements in live Broadway theater performances, and the Tony Awards have been an important part of the Broadway community since their inception in 1947. Winning a Tony is considered one of the highest honors in the theater industry.

Who’s up for a Tony Award in 2023?

The Awards this year will take place on Sunday, June 11, and will be hosted by Broadway star Ariana DeBose yet again. Early in May, however, the nominations were unveiled by Lea Michele and Myles Frost.

‘Some LIke It Hot,’ the musical adaption of the 1959 hit comedy classic led the nominations with 13 total including Best Musical. Closely behind ‘& Juliet,’ ‘New York, New York,’ and ‘Shucked’ earned nine nominations each.

The Tonys ceremony will air live from New York City’s United Palace Theater on Sunday, June 11, at 8 pm ET on CBS and stream live on and be available on demand on Paramount+. See the full list of nominations below.
