Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift-inspired flights are added by American and United Airlines

American and United Airlines are launching flights inspired by the couple of the moment: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Super Bowl LVIII has been decided. Next Sunday, February 11, Kansas City Chiefs will face San Francisco 49ers for the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy. The match will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Given the special occasion, several U.S. airlines have begun to launch flights for the Super Bowl, inspired by the couple of the moment: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

American Airlines have added round-trip flights from Kansas City to Las Vegas. The outbound numbers correspond to “1989″, in honour of the singer’s iconic album, as well as her year of birth; while the return flight is “87″, for Travis Kelce’s jersey number.

United Airlines made a similar move by listing new flights as “UA 1989″, in honour of the aforementioned album, and “UA 2287″, as a nod to Swift’s 2012 hit, “22″, and Kelce’s number.

Other Super Bowl nods

United Airlines added more flights with nods to Super Bowl LVIII. The third flight number added was “UA 1587″, which corresponds to a combination of Mahomes’ and Kelce’s numbers. As for the 49ers, the airline launched flights “UA 1995″ and “UA 1849″, in honour of their last championship won and the origin of the team’s name, respectively.

Taylor Swift’s odyssey to reach SB LVIII

Since the Chiefs clinched their pass to Super Bowl LVIII, the focus outside the gridiron has been on Taylor Swift and her challenge to get to the big game on Sunday.

The 34-year-old superstar is scheduled to perform a concert in Tokyo, Japan on Saturday, February 10, while the Super Bowl will be held on the 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

However, thanks to the different time zones, Taylor Swift might be able to make it on time. If the singer takes her private jet at the end of her show, around midnight, she would arrive in Las Vegas during the afternoon of the same Saturday, that is, one night before the Super Bowl.
