Twin Peaks Day, why is it celebrated and what made the show so popular?

Originally broadcast in 1990, Twin Peaks became a massive global hit developing a devout and cult following.

The surreal mystery-horror drama series was created by Mark Frost and David Lynch and ran for two seasons before returning in 2017 for a third and final season.

The series was set in the fictional Pacific Northwest town of Twin Peaks and follows an investigation led by FBI special agent Dale Cooper (played by Kyle MacLachlan) into the murder of local teenager Laura Palmer.

The show received widespread critical acclaim and is considered by many devotees as one of the greatest television series ever made with its unique blend of mystery, surrealism, and dark humor.

Since the show’s demise, every February 24, fans gather in person and online to reminisce on the series and share experiences with the date marking the date that Dale Cooper arrives in the town of Twin Peaks.

At 11:30 am, Cooper enters the town for the first time which is located five miles south of the Canadian border, twelve miles west of the state line and states: “I’ve never seen so many trees in my life. As W.C. Fields would say, “I’d rather be here than Philadelphia”.
