‘Untold: The Murder of Air McNair’: release date, trailer, how to watch
A new Netflix documentary looks into the 2009 death of the former NFL quarterback Steve “Air” McNair.
The murder of ex-NFL star Steve “Air” McNair is placed under the microscope in the latest season of the Netflix docuseries Untold, a show that describes itself as “pulling back the curtain on epic tales from the wide (and wild) world of sports”.
What happened to “Air” McNair?
McNair, whose story is one of three covered by Untold: Volume 4, was found dead from gunshot wounds in a Nashville apartment in 2009, together with Sahel “Jenny” Kazemia, a 20-year-old woman with whom he had been romantically involved.
An MVP-winning quarterback, McNair had retired from the NFL the previous year, after a 13-season career whose highlight came in the 1999 campaign, when he led the Tennessee Titans to an appearance at Super Bowl XXXIV.
Looking back over the three-time Pro Bowler’s ascent to NFL stardom, Untold: The Murder of Air McNair explores the investigation into his killing and examines “the factors that led to his and Kazemi’s tragic deaths”, Netflix says. The streaming service adds that the documentary tackles “unanswered questions” about the crime.

The season also explores the 2023 sign-stealing scandal that enveloped the Michigan Wolverines football team, before concluding with a look into the soccer career of former USA goalkeeper Hope Solo - an episode that “unpacks the unique mix of glory and scandal that accompanied her rise to fame”.

When does Untold: The Murder of Air McNair premiere in the US?
Untold: The Murder of Air McNair, which is directed by Rodney Lucas and Taylor Alexander Ward, will be the first episode of Volume 4 to drop on Netflix: it is released on Wednesday August 20.
The season’s remaining instalments will then arrive over the following two weeks. Untold: Sign Stealer premieres on Wednesday August 27, before Untold: Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccer comes out on Wednesday September 3.
