Vanessa Hudgens and Mads Mikkelsen team up once again in ‘The Black Kaiser’
Vanessa Hudgens and Mads Mikkelsen previously worked together in ‘Polar’.
Vanessa Hudgens and Mads Mikkelsen will be reprising their roles in the sequel to their 2019 movie ‘Polar’ to be titled ‘The Black Kaiser.’
Both movies are based on the graphic novel ‘Polar’ by Spanish cartoonist Víctor Santos. Mikkelsen plays Duncan Vizla, an assassin of the Damocles organization, with Hudgens playing his neighbor Camille, who becomes entangled in the deadly drama that follows Vizla.
What will ‘The Black Kaiser’ be about?
‘The Black Kaiser’ will pick up where ‘Polar’ left off, with Vizla and Camille teaming up to discover who ordered one of the hits that Vizla conducted early in his career that has haunted him ever since.
‘The Black Kaiser’ will be directed by Derrick Borte, who took on the role after ‘Polar’ director ‘Jonas Åkerlund’ dropped out of the project.
Jayson Rothwell is writing the script, and filming is set to begin sometime this fall.
Constantin Film, JB Pictures, and Dark Horse Entertainment production will be working on the movie, with producers Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer of ‘Resident Evil’ on board.
Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment are also producers, along with Martin Moszkowicz and Mikkselsen executive producing.
XYZ Films will also be executive producing.
A busy year for Vanessa Hudgens
Hudgens has been busy securing a number of new roles in 2023, including ‘French Girl’, ‘Big Rig’ and ‘Downtown Owl.’
She’s also been busy planning her impending wedding with her fiancé, Cole Tucker.
“Finding a venue is tough. I kind of just wanna elope. I really … I’m lost. I don’t know,” Hudgens said in an episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ earlier this month.
“I mean, he just wants to get married to me,” Hudgens said of her fiancé. The two began dating in 2021 before announcing their engagement in 2022. “He’s like, ‘Whatever you want, babe.’”
In a 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hudgens said Tucker was “perfect for [her].”
“I am [happy]. I really am. I think that it’s also so important to stay grateful for everything that you have in life. I’ve been making that a priority, and I feel like it’s just been making magic happen all the more.”
