Get ready for another ‘Dodgeball’ showdown, as Vince Vaughn suits up as Peter La Fleur, global dodgeball champion.

The 2004 hit comedy ‘Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story’ starring Vaughn as La Fleur and his arch nemesis, Ben Stiller as White Goodman, grossed $168 million at the global box office.

Who will be in the ‘Dodgeball’ sequel?

Vaughn has agreed to reprise his role, with many of the other original cast members likely to join him.

Key members of the 2004 cast along with Vaughn and Stiller are Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Stephen Root, the late Rip Torn, Jason Bateman, Gary Cole, Missi Pyle, Alan Tudyk, Joel David Moore, Chris Williams, Hank Azaria, Chuck Norris, and William Shatner.

Rawson Marshall Thurber both wrote and directed the 2004 film, but Jordan VanDina will write the screenplay for the sequel, as per Deadline’s report on Thursday.

Will Thurber direct the ‘Dodgeball’ sequel?

It is unclear whether Thurber will direct the film, having already relinquished his scriptwriting duties.

The last time the director commented on a ‘Dodgeball’ sequel was in a 2021 interview with Deadline.

“You know what - never say never,” Thurber said at the time. “I never thought about Dodgeball as a series, but that actually might be fun. I’m really proud of Dodgeball - it’s my first film and something people still really like it seems.”

“I would say never say never, and it would have to be the right take on it. But yeah, maybe.”

What’s the plot of the ‘Dodgeball’ sequel?

‘Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story’ saw down-and-out Peter La Fleur and his outcast pals from his drab workout center, Average Joe’s Gym. La Fleur and friends set out to win a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament to bring themselves up to the next level — and score $50,000.

So far the only information that has been released about the plot is that the story will pick up where the last film left off: after the big tournament.
