Through an exclusive with PEOPLE magazine to promote his upcoming docuseries on Netflix, the 48-year-old former player addressed the media impact of Travis - as fans call the now couple - by pointing out that they deserve to be happy regardless of their status.
“There is a lot of noise around Taylor right now. Taylor is incredibly talented and an amazing person. She deserves to be happy. Whatever you do and whoever you are with, as long as you are happy, that is the most important thing,” Beckham explained.

Beckham later revealed that the key to a long-lasting relationship, such as his with former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, is “giving time to each other” and “mutual respect.”
“It’s the same with me and with Victoria. We have been together for 26 years, almost three decades. We have incredible children, we have created businesses, but we dedicate time to each other”, David noted, adding that both he and his wife “respect each other” and they both know that “you have to work hard at these things.”
