What did Diplo really say when Beyoncé won the Grammy?

Beyoncé fans rage after Diplo whispered an indecipherable comment to a companion at the Grammy Awards.

Upon the announcement that Beyoncé won the Grammy Award for Best Electronic album, a moment that broke the record for winning the most Grammys ever, producer Diplo leaned over and made a quiet comment to his companion.

Beyoncé's win saw her pass legendary conductor Georg Solti for the honor of most Grammys won, after she won the gramophone for the 31st time.

The moment was captured on video at the awards show on Sunday, and has since flooded social media, with Bey fans furiously speculating about what the producer said. Diplo was nominated for an award in the same category.

The moment in question involving Diplo and Beyoncé

Though there was a lot of commotion in a noisy room and Diplo’s voice is inaudible in the video, many are convinced he was being less than polite when commenting on the songstress’s win.

While some back Diplo and say the 44-year-old producer, who has worked with Beyoncé before, commented, “Glad I’m part of that”, Beyoncé nation believe that Diplo said,”’They bought that”.

Other fans speculated over Diplo’s angle, debating whether he made an undermining comment for the splashy soundbite, if he was a sore loser, if he knew something everyone else didn’t, or if he was just happy for an old friend.

“Diplo, one of Beyoncé's collaborators, seemingly confirms she bought her #GRAMMYs wins by mouthing “they bought that” after she won,” one person posted speculatively.

“Idk which one’s worst, that he believed anyone else could’ve won or that he had the audacity to say that knowing the cameras immediately pan to losers,” wrote another.

The assessment is purely lip-reading and speculation. Diplo could have said, “She really went up to bat” or “She earned that” or “I really wanted that”.

Someone else retweeted Diplo’s review of Beyoncé ‘Renaissance’ album, in which he praised Beyoncé's contribution to cultural significance, gave it a score of 10 out of 10, and said that its “production is insane.”

The netizen’s retweet caption read: “Diplo said “I’m part of that” and he has worked with Beyoncé multiple times.”
