In October last year, NFL legend Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bündchen confirmed that they were divorcing after 13 years of marriage.

On Instagram, Bündchen wrote: “With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce. My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.

“The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”

Brady divorce “not what I dreamed of”, Gisele tells CBS

Since then, Brady and Bündchen have both been focusing on their careers and their kids, and have largely avoided talking publicly about their divorce.

However, Bündchen has opened up about the couple’s split in a new interview with the US television network CBS, which comes on the back of a recent sit-down with the celebrity news magazine People.

It’s not what I dreamed of and what I hoped for,” she told Lee Cowan in a conversation that is to be aired in full on Sunday at 9am ET/6am PT. “My parents have been married for 50 years and I really wanted that to happen.

“But I think you have to accept sometimes that the way you are in your 20s, sometimes you grow together, sometimes you grow apart.

“[Brady] is the father of my kids, so I always wish him the best and I’m so grateful that he gave me wonderful children. And I think when a door shuts, other doors open.”

Divorce “very tough on my family”

Earlier this week, Bündchen told People: “It’s been very tough on my family. It’s been a lot in every area of my life. All we can do is the best we can given what happens in our surroundings.”
